Ovarian cysts and fibrocystic breasts sound like frightening diagnoses, don’t they?

Yet both conditions are very common and almost always benign. They can, however, cause you pain and discomfort if left untreated.

Many women have ovarian cysts at some time in their lives. The majority disappears without treatment within a few months. But if ovarian cysts rupture, they can cause serious symptoms such as:

  • Sudden, severe abdominal or pelvic pain
  • Pain with fever or vomiting

If you have these signs and symptoms, or those of shock - cold, clammy skin; rapid breathing; and lightheadedness or weakness - immediately seek medical help.

As for fibrocystic breasts, they aren’t cancerous, but they can cause your breasts to be lumpy, tender, and painful. Fibrocysts affect more than 60% of women in the US, and is often referred to as fibrocystic breast disease.

Let’s dig deeper into these two conditions and their cause.

Why Women Get Ovarian Cysts Or Fibrocystic Breasts

Cysts that form on the ovaries are fluid-filled sacs of tissue. Fibroid cysts in the breast are somewhat different; they’re an accumulation of fluid, cells, and cellular debris.

There are two main reasons why women get cysts in their breasts and ovaries:

  1. Estrogen dominance, because the hormone estrogen spurs the hyper-growth of cysts in women’s reproductive organs.
  2. Iodine deficiency, because the trace mineral iodine decreases the excess estrogen in your body and keeps you from becoming estrogen dominant.

Chances are, if you have ovarian cysts or fibroids in your breasts then you either lack iodine or have a massive amount of excess estrogen.

How Your Iodine Level Gets Too Low

How do you become isuming a lot oodine deficient? Well, it’s difficult to get enough in your diet, especially in the US. Iodine is a trace mineral that your body needs but can’t make; thus, you need to get from the food you eat. But the soil is so depleted of minerals that there’s insufficient iodine in the food grown in the depleted soil.

So, unless you’re conf seafood or seaweed, you’re almost certainly deficient in iodine and are therefore at risk for ovarian cysts or fibrocystic breasts.

Most of the iodine in your body is stored in your thyroid, but the other places it’s stored are the ovaries, uterus, and breasts. This means that iodine plays a critical role in the healthy functioning of the female reproductive organs.

Signs That You May Be Getting Cysts

If you experience a worsening of PMS symptoms or an irregular menstrual cycle because you have estrogen dominance or iodine deficiency, this is a sign that cysts could start growing either when you’re ovulating or menstruating.

For example, many women get back pain during these times, on either side right above the hip, because of what’s called referring pain to the sacroiliac joints on either the right or left side of your pelvic area. In other words, if you have pain on the right side of your lower back, chances are there’s a cyst on your right ovary.

Or your breast tissue may feel dense with an irregular area of thicker tissue having a lumpy feel to it. You might also feel tiny bead-like masses scattered throughout your breasts. They may feel tender, swollen, and full with a dull, heavy pain, or be sensitive to the touch with a burning sensation.

So, what’s the solution?

How To Fix Ovarian Cysts And Fibrocystic Breasts

There’s a very simple remedy - consume more iodine. I like to take it from sea kelp. To start, take a small amount in the morning and gradually increase the amount until the symptoms you’re experiencing subside. This will help balance your estrogen levels and protect you against estrogen dominance.

I recommend using a 100 percent certified organic sea kelp product in order to get the best results and protect yourself from unwanted cysts in your breasts and ovaries.

Protect Yourself

I know it’s frightening when you discover you’re at risk for ovarian cysts or fibrocystic breasts, or have received a diagnosis that you’ve already got them.

Though they’re mostly harmless, there is a slight chance they could develop into something more severe. You’d be wise to protect yourself against the risk, or to fix the ones that are already there.

Because the solution - taking iodine - is so easy, you can add it to your daily routine with minimal effort. And though the effort is minimal, the payoff for your health is huge.

You can feel confident you’re taking the right steps to balance your estrogen, ensure your iodine levels are sufficient, and lower your chances of experiencing debilitating cysts. Do yourself a big favor and start taking iodine supplements.
