Why You Need to Drink Lemon Juice on a Keto Diet
They say when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. You can even store lemonade in a lemon juice bottle so you can bring it everywhere with you, and you should. With our discussion about lemons today, you’ll never look at this citrus fruit the same way again.
Lemons, which are a rich source of vitamin C or ascorbic acid, are beneficial in a keto diet — a type of weight loss and diabetic regimen that’s gaining popularity these days. In a ketogenic diet, you eat low-carb foods to force your body to burn fat fast. When there are not enough carbohydrates, ketones from the liver serve as a source of energy.
Lemon water or sugarless lemon juice mixed in warm water, hot water, or cold water is a perfect match to any diet, including the ketogenic diet. Lemons are greatly involved in maintaining the normal pH balance of the body, thanks to their alkaline components. In the body, concentrated lemon juice turns into an alkaline substance, and uric acid is a byproduct of purine. The issue, though, is how your kidneys are processing uric acid. When your kidneys filter your blood, uric acid can build up and can cause scars and damage.
Purine Definition: A protein commonly found in organ meat, seafood, and alcoholic beverages. Paired with pyrimidines (colorless crystallines), purines act as building blocks for the body's DNA.

The Major Factors That Promote High Levels of Uric Acid
Certain proteins from the food we eat produce uric acid, which is the culprit of painful gout. There are two big factors that contribute to the production of uric acid in the body, and correcting them can prevent you from having high levels of uric acid.
Fat Storing Hormone is the first one. If you have high levels of Fat Storing Hormone, you also have high levels of uric acid. So if you have Fat Storing Hormone resistance or are diabetic, a lot of times, it comes with high levels of uric acid and gout. The second one is ketosis, which can give you too much uric acid as well. This is because ketones compete with uric acid and vice versa.
Because of these factors, you need to start adding more fresh and real lemon juice to your diet or drink lemon water to keep your uric acid low. The citric acid in diluted lemon juice neutralizes uric acid crystals, which improves the symptoms of gout.
By drinking fresh lemon juice and water, you keep uric acid at a normal level – keeping your kidneys, liver, and your whole body healthy. Learning how to make lemon juice is so easy! It’s an easy addition to your diet!
