How did you discover keto?
After leaving my primary doctor, I was told I was a “dead man walking” and taken out of service with no pay from my job due to health issues. I’m in a safety-sensitive position as a bus operator for New York City Transit. I went home and could not sleep, so I got on my computer and typed “what can a diabetic not eat.” A Dr. Berg video popped up, so I started watching his videos, and the first one I followed was No Sugar for 14 Days. I did that for 30 days straight.
What did your diet look like prior to adopting keto?
All processed foods, high in carbs and loaded with added sugars.
Did you have any problems with your weight or health before going on keto?
Yes, I weighed in at 393 pounds and had numerous other health issues.
How has your health improved since you started keto?
Yes, following Dr. Berg, no surgery and intermittent fasting with better food choices and his supplements, as well as understanding gut health better, helped me lose over 175 pounds in a year. I am now down to 210 pounds, and my lowest weight was 203 pounds.
How does an average day of eating/fasting look for you on keto?
A 16-hour fast, which I can now do at will. I can also do 5-day fasts like it’s nothing, especially after learning from Dr. Berg.
Does exercise play a role in your success on keto? If so, how?
I was not able to exercise until this year.
If you could offer advice to someone starting keto, what would you say?
Learn. First, watch the videos and study them.
What is your favorite keto recipe from Dr. Berg?
Salmon with ghee and cauliflower.
