How did you discover keto?
I feel that I never did Keto; I started fasting in January of 2024.
What did your diet look like prior to adopting keto?
I would eat anything I wanted, fast food, junk food, pop, and lots of carbs.
Did you have any problems with your weight or health before going on keto?
Before I changed my lifestyle, I had always been bigger. It started on April 28th, 2020. When COVID started, I didn’t want to just sit at home and do nothing. I started walking 30 minutes a day for a while, then I increased it to 45 minutes, then an hour, 7 days a week. The next thing I knew, I was walking for an hour and a half. I slowly added more time to my walk. I now walk 4 hours a day, 7 days a week in the summer. I walk in the spring as well, but not in the winter. By August 2021, I lost 100 pounds. It took me 16 months to achieve that goal. Today, Dec 11th, 2025, I’m still 100 pounds down. I cut out snacking at night and started eating smaller portions as well.
How has your health improved since you started keto?
I’m so much healthier; my knees don’t hurt, and my back is so much better.
How does an average day of eating/fasting look for you on keto?
Four days a week, I start eating at 12:00 p.m. I eat 2 hard-boiled eggs, a small salad with chicken breast in it, some fruit, and a banana. Then I eat a low-carb supper, and my eating window closes at 6:00 p.m. I fast until the next day at noon. I also fast all day on Friday until supper. On the weekends, I try to just eat supper and fast as well.
Does exercise play a role in your success on keto? If so, how?
Exercise plays a big role. I walk a lot, it’s so good for my physical health, and my mental health as well.
If you could offer advice to someone starting keto, what would you say?
Start slowly and don’t cut out a lot of your food. Make your portions smaller. Walk a lot, stay active, and drink lemon water.
Any other details you want to share?
My doctor is amazed at how I lost 100 pounds without an intervention from a doctor to lose the weight. He is also impressed that my liver is so much healthier. I am so proud of myself for achieving this goal and for keeping the weight off as well.
