Life before keto:
Tanmoy is a 58-year-old anesthesiologist from India who started his journey at 198 pounds (90 kg).
During his rigorous 16- to 18-hour days in the hospital, Tanmoy found he was gaining a lot of weight. “It was bound to take its toll,” he said. “I developed heart palpitations and discovered that my blood pressure and blood sugar had gone up to prediabetes levels.”
Although Tanmoy is a mainstream doctor, something drove him away from using conventional treatment for his health issues. His search for alternatives brought him to keto and eventually to intermittent fasting. “Being an insider, I understood for a fact that conventional medicine cannot do much for lifestyle problems,” he explained. “So, this was the only way out: to take charge of my own health or suffer as countless millions do, despite their best efforts.”
Tanmoy found Dr. Berg while researching keto on YouTube. He appreciated the clear-cut instructions in the Dr. Berg videos. “Plus, as a medical professional, I love the way he explains physiology!” he exclaimed.
After starting keto:
In India, it wasn’t easy to adopt a low-carb and high-fat diet, but with the support of his wife, family, and friends, Tanmoy successfully made the switch.
Since February 2017, he has also been including intermittent fasting, which has yielded even more positive results. First at a ratio of 16:8, then 20:4, and now at 23:1, with only one meal a day for the last four months. “I wish I had added intermittent fasting earlier,” he said.
Sticking to keto despite all the distractions and temptations was worth it for him. He feels younger and fitter than he ever has in his life, without the intervention of any conventional medicines. “All you have to do is allow the body to heal itself if you are sick, and never to allow it to happen if you are well,” Tanmoy says.
Health improvements:
Following a ketogenic diet since February 2015, Tanmoy lost 49 pounds, dropping his weight to 149 pounds (68 kg).
Favorite way to exercise:
With such long workdays, Tanmoy doesn’t have an organized workout plan. But he can run up six flights of stairs, no problem!
Favorite keto recipe:
Bacon and eggs.
