Did you have any problems with your weight or health before going on keto?
I started my journey to good health at 265 lbs. The trigger was having my fourth gout attack and being told I would have to take even more meds than I already was formy thyroid and blood pressure issues.
I have been overweight most of my life. There were a few years when I lost weight by starving and kept it off, and then I ballooned to over 300 lbs. I got down to 195 lbs. by following the Atkins diet, and then over the next 18 years, I climbed back up to 265 lbs.
I am perimenopausal and have struggled with brain fog and mild depression over the years.
I had Dr. Berg’s book for months and casually flipped through it and watched videos on YouTube. One Sunday night, something flipped the switch, and Monday morning, I went cold turkey. I started intermittent fasting and Healthy Keto®.
How has your health improved since you started keto?
Today, 6 months later, I weigh 190 lbs.
The inflammation in my body seems to have disappeared, and I can stand and walk for hours without a problem. My mind is clear, and I haven’t had to fight any depression.
How does an average day of eating/fasting look for you on keto?
I eat my last meal at 6 p.m. and don’t eat again until 12 p.m. the next day. No snacking, no sugar substitutes, no more coffee. I drink only water or herbal tea and eatveggies and protein. I learn as I go along and tweak what I eat.
I also started to take supplements that were recommended by Dr. Berg. I ordered them from his site, including a couple of vitamins. I have had no cheat meals or cheat days. I knew that I needed to be disciplined for it to work. I’m an all-or-nothing woman. Every day, I learn more and understand so much more about how food interacts with our bodies.
I have incorporated extended fasting to move the weight because once I got to 215, things really slowed down and stalled.
Any other details you want to share?
I am enrolled in Dr. Berg’s health coach course because I want to learn more to help myself and others when I am asked about my journey.
I started off with my goal weight at 160, but now I’d like it to be 150.
I have a YouTube channel and Facebook page where I have tried to document this journey in the hopes of helping or motivating even one person.
Thank you for this opportunity to share.
