Life before keto:
Before keto, Mike lacked energy and suffered from a long list of health problems. Removing his gallbladder didn’t improve them. And sleep apnea was taking over his life. In 2017, his weight peaked at 240 pounds, and he decided he needed a change.
After starting keto:
In June of that year, Mike found Dr. Berg’s videos and began his keto journey. “I’ve had a few bumps in the road,” he said. “But I am on a straight and narrow path now.” If there was anything he’d do differently, he said, it would be adding intermittent fasting into his routine sooner.
Fortunately, he had the support of his wife, whose encouraging words helped him along. But beyond that, Mike saw the positive changes in himself that encouraged him and kept him motivated.
Health improvements:
Mike didn’t get heavy overnight, and he definitely didn’t lose the weight overnight. But with patience and persistence, Mike has lost a total of 55 pounds on the keto lifestyle.
Now, he has amazing energy all day, and he no longer uses a machine for sleep. Both are major accomplishments, in addition to his substantial weight loss.
Advice for someone starting keto:
“If you read my story, started this, and then fell off the wagon, I would encourage you to get back on,” Mike says. “The reward is well worth it.”
Favorite ways to exercise:
Mike started off walking an hour a day, five days a week. Now, he runs three days a week and does calisthenics two days a week.

Keto French Toast topped with blueberries and whipped cream. “Amazing!” says Mike.
