Did you have any problems with your weight or health before going on keto?
I used to be a 4-pack-a-day smoker. It was killing me. When I quit smoking back in 1995, I gained a lot of weight. In fact, I continued to gain weight until I put on about 100 pounds.
I thought, “One thing at a time. Get past the cigarette addiction and then lose the weight.”
I quit smoking with the assistance of an acupuncturist who helped me get past the craving that was destroying my life.
But the weight gain was another story. Dr. Berg saved me from the health consequences of obesity! In fact, before I discovered Dr. Berg, I had been trying to lose weight for 8 years. I’m a 64-year-old man, and I worked my butt off trying to lose all the weight I gained from giving up smoking. I mean, for eight years, I really, really tried to lose weight.
I’m 5’5″, so at 264 pounds, I was morbidly obese and was on medication for some health issues.
What did your diet look like prior to adopting keto?
I was on a diet consisting of two protein meal shakes a day and a sensible dinner with one cheat day a week. But even with this eating plan AND daily hour-long workouts on a treadmill, I could not lose one single pound.
Can you believe that? For EIGHT years – NOT one pound?! I cannot believe I didn’t give up sooner.
How has your health improved since you started keto?
Then I discovered Dr. Berg, and sure enough, I started losing 2 pounds a week. Every single week, I lost TWO pounds.
Now, I’ve lost over 100 pounds; I’ve gone from 264 to 156 pounds!
My wife saw my results, and now she’s started the plan and dropped 75 pounds! She still has a ways to go, but she’ll get there! When I saw the results I was getting, I really got motivated.
How does an average day of eating/fasting look for you on keto?
I do both intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet. I typically fast 16 hours a day, and I am NEVER hungry. Never!
I also gave up coffee since Dr. Berg says it can hinder my progress. Instead, I started drinking a green tea concoction to which I added ACV, coconut oil, and stevia. I love this stuff. Now I’m starting to put on a bit of muscle just from the growth hormone boost!
Any other details you want to share?
I believe that I now have neither fat-storing hormone resistance nor stress to prevent me from losing weight. I believe this program has helped me bust past any hormones that hold me back from weight loss.
I like Dr. Berg. He’s down to earth like me. He simply tells the truth about everything. Plus, he’s well-versed on the subject. I’ve forwarded so many of Dr. Berg’s videos to my friends–and now I’m helping my friends to get healthy as Dr. Berg helped me.
I have never felt so great in my life. I feel like a teenager again! I’ve lost over 100 pounds.
