Nick Nicolaou's Story

Nick Nicolaou was pre-diabetic and struggled to take charge of his health. He has been training in the gym since 1998 and has always wanted a visible six pack, but unfortunately this goal always eluded him.

In addition to the obvious health benefits of keto, the rock-bottom truth is that Nicolaou started keto as the last possible path toward a great six-pack, apart from getting surgery.

He stumbled upon Dr. Berg’s videos in late 2015, and there he learned all aspects of keto. “He gave [me] the keys to the car and I just got [into] the driver’s seat and drove,” said Nicolaou.

Other than the help of his fiancé, Nicolaou doesn’t have any support besides his own willpower. It can be difficult to “mentally block out all the naysayers. People ask me how I’m doing it because they’re astounded,” he said. “I would get awkward comments.”

Since starting keto, Nicolaou has lost 90 pounds (41 kg), reversed his pre-diabetes diagnosis, and has surpassed his six-pack goal. “I feel elated and over the moon in terms [of] how happy I am but in terms of my health, I feel very energetic and powerful and positive,” he said. “I am living my dream.”

If he could do things all over again, he said he wouldn’t change a thing. As for what he’d say to people reading his story: “Have faith in Dr. Berg because his knowledge and passion helped me save my own life.”

Favorite Way to Exercise: Nicolaou works out for two to three hours a day: Wattbike Pro for 10 to 20 miles, one hour of weights, and 10 to 20 minutes of HIIT cardio at the end.

Favorite Keto Recipe: “Too many but if I had to pick one [meal to] eat every day without a struggle, it would be all organic and everything cooked in coconut oil,” said Nicolaou. “The ingredients would be three [strips of] bacon, three fried eggs, three slices of halloumi [cheese], some cherry tomatoes, a whole avocado complemented with a fatty coffee. We [also] sometimes have homemade keto bread.”
