Brandon Moore’s journey began at rock bottom.
He was battling hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and alcoholism. He would regularly pass out, struggled with basic tasks like tying his shoes, and felt like a shell of the man he used to be—physically and emotionally.
“One evening I was looking in the mirror and absolutely hated who was looking back,” said Brandon.
“I was disappointed and disgusted at how far I had driven myself down.”
The Wake-Up Call
The turning point came when he thought about his son. The idea of not being there for him was too painful to bear.
“The thought of not being around for my son was something that I would never allow to happen,” he said.
“It was at that moment I said no more — and everything just clicked. I quit everything that day cold turkey!”
Discovering Dr. Berg and a New Mindset
A close friend at work introduced Brandon to Dr. Berg’s YouTube channel, which quickly became his go-to source of education and motivation.
“[The biggest lesson I learned] was focusing on getting healthy to lose weight — not losing weight to get healthy,” Brandon shared.
“Also, using intermittent fasting and eating two meals a day greatly helped with weight loss and just feeling better overall.”
Another important shift in mindset? Trusting the process. Brandon learned that the body must heal internally before external results show. That realization helped him stay consistent, even through plateaus.
The Struggles and Surprises
Like many others on keto, Brandon hit several plateaus during his journey. Breaking through them took patience, experimentation, and determination.
The silver lining? Bacon.
“The best part was being able to eat copious amounts of bacon,” he laughed.
But if he could do it all over again, he would’ve approached things a bit differently.
“I would slow down with intermittent fasting to give my skin time to adjust,” he said.
“And I’d use more coconut oil to help with stretch marks and loose skin.”
Results That Changed His Life
After 11 months of dedication, Brandon lost 85 pounds (39 kg). But the numbers on the scale don’t fully capture his transformation.
“I can touch my toes again with ease. I feel stronger. My mind is clearer. It took more willpower than I’ve ever put toward anything in my life — but it was worth every second.”
Brandon also shared his progress on Facebook, where support from friends, family, and even strangers kept him going. But ultimately, his son remained his biggest motivation.

“YOU CAN DO THIS! Trust the process and remember — it’s a journey, not a race. Give your body time to fix what needs fixing. You get out what you put in. So, find your rock, ground your feet, and go to work!”
