My story began with the realization that I'm never going to be able to eat what I want without gaining weight because of one thing called Fat Storing Hormone resistance. I decided I was tired of being 374 lbs. I couldn't stay on my feet for long periods of time, my knees began to hurt more and more, I had shortness of breath obviously, and I was tired of it. I had to make a change. I decided to put behind me the one thing I loved and that was sugar. I've always loved sweets. Unfortunately that is hard to do when it's in EVERYTHING we eat. I had to stop eating things I grew up eating; while everyone enjoyed donut day at work I went without. I stopped eating bread, pasta, grains, and sweets. Talk about a lifestyle change. But looking back now I only regret not having started sooner. Yes it's a challenge. Yes it's hard. But now I'm not facing a heart attack (hopefully). Now I'm not facing diabetes, I've reduced my chances of a stroke, which runs in my mom's family. I've traded sugar for health and I'm very proud of that. It saddens me when people don't do the research and don't realize that by the worlds standards, they don't really care about our health, they only care about $$$. If people want to trust in the food companies and hospitals to make you better? That's ok. I'll stick to staying away from processed foods, excessive sweets, high carbs, and junk. I'm not saying I'll never eat a donut or slice of pizza again, but I've found a better way of life. I hope many more will join me. But if everyone else stops, I will keep going, if only for my family's sake.
