Starting keto:
After trying many diets throughout his life, Rafal decided to give keto a go when he came across Dr. Berg’s videos on YouTube.
“I followed Dr. Berg’s instructions and gave up all sugars and carbs, including fruits and alcohol,” he said. From the videos, Rafal learned that keto isn’t just another so-called diet, but rather a healthy way of living.
But success didn’t come without its trials. “The hardest part was the beginning: the first two or three weeks when your body transitions and starts to use ketones as a fuel,” Rafal said. “The best part was overall health improvement.”
Health improvements:
With keto, Rafal lost 85 pounds (39 kg) in ten months, and a recent blood test shows that his blood pressure has improved.
When asked what he might have done differently, he said he would have taken more electrolytes at the start to avoid feeling tired. Still, he didn’t give up.
Advice for someone starting keto:
“Discipline is very important. The bigger the goal, the more need to sacrifice,” Rafal said. And he advises others, “You’ll be amazed how good you’re going to feel. No more brain fog, no more tiredness during the day, the sex drive improves, etc.”
