Keto healed my eating disorder
Around the age of 14 (in 1999), I developed an eating disorder (Anorexia and Bulimia). It never got that bad that I had to be hospitalized, but it was still quite bad. I had a fear of eating more than 600-800 calories, and couldn't understand why I didn't even look skinny eating that little ( I was underweight a few times when eating next to nothing).
In 2012/13, at the age of 27, I thought I'd get healthy eating a vegan/ raw vegan diet, but it actually made everything worse. It was very frustrating as I had even studied nutrition, and I began to think that something was wrong with my body.
In 2016, I met someone who was suffering from seizures, and he told me about Keto. He wouldn't try it though because he was vegan and believed he wouldn't feel well without carbs. This is when I slowly started Keto. It was scary at first because I was still scared of calories. But I quickly noticed that the dietary fat and extra calories - about 1000 calories more than I'd normally eat- didn't make me gain weight, but made me actually look better. I even looked slimmer, as undereating had made me look puffy and sluggish, also my skin started looking healthier and younger, I started getting lots of compliments which I'd never gotten before, and my body started healing for the first time after nearly 20 years.
I often watch Dr. Berg's videos and am really happy and thankful to have found Keto. I hope that more people with eating disorders can learn about Keto because I really think that it's the best way to get and stay healthy.
