Story

By: Grace

1. What is your name, age, and general location? How did you discover the keto diet?

Name Grace. My Father age 72, Asian. Found your video on YouTube 2 years ago.

2. Did you have any problems with your weight or health before going on keto?

My father is Type 2 Diabetic with daily twice insulin from up to 12 units. The belly is not small. But not overweight. Skin is itchy very often. Eyes always somehow blur.

3. What did your diet look like before starting keto? When did you start the keto diet?

Before keto, 3 meals daily, mostly rice, all kinds of noodles, dumplings, vegetables. Very few fruits. Keto started in December 2019 but with more fruits than before.

4. How has your health improved since you started keto?

Hba1c from 2018 at 8.4 to Apr. 2021 at 6. (Stopped insulin totally since keto, no medication) His urine labor result changed from urine protein 1+ to null. (Nov 2019. to Dec 2020) He lost 10kg ( at first was 5kg in 2 months), and he feels much more energy than before when climbing many stairs, much less short of breath. Eyes are much less irritating. Skin totally fine.

5. What does an average day of eating/fasting look like for you on keto?

Three meals daily, ( too hard for IF) mostly vegetable, meat, eggs, a little portion of oat noodles. 1 black Coffee. Occasionally a little cake, but only before a walk.

6. Does exercise play a role in your success on keto? If so, how?

Not so much. He is always active, with no change of exercise habits.

7. What mistakes have you made on keto, and what have you learned from them?

More strict keto is better (fewer cakes or maybe fruit)

8. If you could only offer three pieces of advice to someone starting keto, what would they be?

Stick to the plan, it's only hard for the first 2 weeks. Afterward, it's a lifestyle, and you will be more creative in cooking recipes. Excercise does not play a big role here. Staying at home cause of corona does not out on weight. If possible, do strict keto, ( no fruits and little treats), although it's difficult. But even so, my father has achieved more than he can imagine! Actually, many of my friends have benefited from your kindness and generous intelligence, thank you very much, Doctor Berg!
