Did you have any problems with your weight or health before going on keto?
I’ve tried it all; in fact, I could have been crowned the queen of yo-yo dieting at one point. I spent thousands on supplements, the best trainers and programs, but could never find a lifestyle that was sustainable, enjoyable, and free from feelings of sacrifice! Sacrificing relationships, experiences, connections… until I was introduced to the Keto lifestyle.
I would train for goals like marathons, fitness competitions, and Ironmans, lose the weight and attain the goal, but after every goal would return to an unhealthy lifestyle of binging, gaining 50 pounds, and emotionally beating myself up over my relationship with food—put this on repeat for 10 years.
How did you discover keto?
In December of 2020, my personal trainer encouraged me to research the keto lifestyle—I was so scared of keto, it seemed hard, confusing, and very overwhelming. My blood work results were at worrisome levels, and heart disease runs rampant in my family, so I decided to do this right and spent two months researching and reading about the keto lifestyle—then began preparing.
How has your health improved since you started keto?
February 14, 2021, I started my keto journey, working with my personal trainer and therapist to address both the physical and the emotional issues tied to my relationship with food. I immediately began sleeping better, feeling better, running better, and for the first time feeling “full”.
By June 2020, 70 pounds were gone! It just clicked; my mind, body, and spirit all felt connected for once. I wasn’t restricted, I didn’t feel guilty, I was free! Free from the rules and restrictions of food. And because I was feeling so good, I wasn’t even interested in the food I was binge eating before. I began learning how to bake keto desserts – making cakes and cookies that allow me to still be part of group celebrations!

I have lost over 70 pounds and have been maintaining the weight loss successfully for 18 months now! I will never go back. I love being fat-adapted, living free, and never missing opportunities to connect with others around food!
