Did you have any problems with your weight or health before going on keto?
My name is Harry, and I live a little south of Daytona Beach.
I had an unknown heart attack, which ended up costing me my Disney Cruise Lines motorcoach job. As that depression set in, I worked a gig delivering food. I gained another 20+ pounds. I ate 2 fast-food double cheeseburgers a day… or worse.
I was 276 pounds by Christmas 2019, at 5’8″. I had new insurance, a new doctor, and I lost 12 pounds before seeing him in January.
I took drastic measures and tried a vegan diet. I did it for 80 days or so and lost 40 more pounds. Along the way, COVID started rearing its head, and I had five of six comorbidities.
How does an average day of eating/fasting look for you on keto?
The vegan diet was not sustainable for me, so I added locally caught fish. Then I found Dr. Berg, and I dove deep into rabbit hole after rabbit hole.
I started adding grass-fed beef and organic chicken. I learned about cruciferous vegetables and found out I like avocados.
I eat in a 3-hour window, ending with 95% dark chocolate and a good raw nut for dessert. I take angstrom magnesium, full-spectrum B12, a probiotic, and D3 with K2, along with 2 daily prescriptions. I used to take 10 prescription meds, one of which was $600 monthly.
How has your health improved since you started keto?
I lost 80 pounds and went from 276 pounds to 156 pounds. My bloodwork greatly improved as well.
Does exercise play a role in your success on keto? If so, how?
I couldn’t exercise at the beginning, but after losing about 50 pounds, I started light walking or riding a bike daily. Adding different things and types of activities as I lostweight, I can now run a 6-second 40-yard dash, do the first pullups of my life, 30 pushups, 10 clapping pushups, play softball, and ride my bike into trees.
If you could offer advice to someone starting keto, what would you say?
1. Start today.
2. Drink electrolyte water more and more as your food gets cleaner.
3. Avoid the costly mistakes of expensive alternative keto products. Just eat real, whole foods as clean as you can afford.
Side note: If you only eat once a day, you can afford to eat like a king for that meal.
I am proof that this works miracles. Start today. Live life like you want to be here.
