What were you struggling with before making this change?
I had trouble with weight for many years after I had my daughter late in life. I was told that fat people do not live long lives. I wanted to live a long, healthy life, so I decided to do what it took and keep going, even when it was hard.
How long did it take to notice results?
I had a lot of weight to lose, so it took a long time to notice the weight loss, but I did notice I felt better quite quickly and was proud of the effort.

What challenges did you face when starting?
It seemed impossible in the beginning, as I have tried many, many times over the years. I was determined because, for me, I knew it was a life-or-death issue, and I wanted a healthy, long life. I was willing to keep going no matter what.
How did you overcome them?
I think I learned to accept that failure can be part of the process and just get back on the wagon and learn from the mistakes. With a body like mine, it may never be easy to stay thin, but if I work on it every day, accept the mistakes, learn more, and get back on track, I can do it.
What does your routine look like now?
Keto and protein-based meals and organic food and grass-fed meats, seafood, good fats, amazing organic EVOO that I can get here in Spain. I work out every single day, mostly walking and dancing and doing some weightlifting (mainly natural things like carrying groceries). I make my own goat kefir daily and am lucky to easily get organic miso here. I rise early and enjoy watching the sun rise and walking on the beach often or sitting on my balcony viewing the Med Sea and enjoying the peace.

I Lost 170 lbs. (77 kg) at age 70! My starting weight was 330 lbs. My current weight is 160 lbs. I am much healthier and more energetic. I know now that I can live a long, healthy, happy life, and I know how important it is to work on it every day. I enjoy pushing myself; like walking up hills. I enjoy grounding myself by walking in seawater as I live on the beach. I wake up happy and energetic. I enjoy going to bed early and having a nighttime ritual starting with watching the sunset.
Now at 74, I am still maintaining this weight, eating even healthier, and exercising daily.
What advice would you give someone starting with this area?
Be determined. Work on it every day. Just start again if you make mistakes or have a bad day or do not meet a goal. Know that you can do it and just keep going until you do. I know I will likely never be naturally and easily thin like many, BUT I know if I work on it every single day, I can maintain this body, and have done it now (maintaining) for 3 years, even through big challenges like travel and moving to a new country.
Any other details you want to share?
My motto is “If there is a will, there is a way.” Just keep going until you reach your goal. I still want to get thinner and healthier, and I keep working on it every day.
