Life before keto:
Jeremy Lamport started his weight loss journey in 2013. At the time, he weighed 450 pounds (204 kg) and felt unhappy with his body.
“I wasn’t able to do things with my kids or buy clothes that fit me from a store in the mall,” he said.
Discovering keto:
Even without a support system, Lamport decided to give keto a try after finding some of Dr. Berg’s videos on YouTube. The six years since he realized he needed to lose weight, haven’t always been easy.
Dr. Berg taught him to ensure he got enough vegetables in his diet, and in the end, he achieved a lot. “The hardest part was stalling and wanting to give up,” said Lamport. “My kids kept me going. I did it for them.”
Health improvements:
In total, he’s lost almost 200 pounds (91 kg) and feels more comfortable going out with his kids. He likes his current size better than having “people staring at the big fat guy.”
Advice for someone starting keto:
The only thing Lamport would change about his journey is that he wishes he’d kept things simpler in the beginning. To others who are at the start of their keto experience, he says, “Don’t give up, and keep it simple.”
