The first thing you need to know is that your problem is NOT your weight – it’s your health. Your doctor is probably telling you that your blood tests are “normal.” So, “no diseases = a healthy body,” right?
The truth is, more health = slim body, sound sleep, excellent energy, and no cravings. The worst thing to do when you are gaining weight, is to decrease your calories. This is a form of starvation. In fact, decreasing calories will create more stress in an already starved body. And, those fat-burning hormones will compensate for what your body thinks is starvation and slow your metabolism even more.
A better approach is to equate nutrients with calories. But, this presents another problem because the food you eat probably has very little nutrients, and it takes a tremendous volume of food just to achieve your RDAs. An apple a day doesn’t keep your doctor away anymore – its takes more like 10 apples a day.
Plants like vegetables and fruits do not make minerals; they only absorb minerals from the soil which helps make vitamin complexes. The soil that we grow food in, has become very nutrient deficient. Therefore, our food is also now nutrient deficient. What’s even more shocking is that most vitamins sold today are NOT even made from natural sources, instead they are made synthetically (with petroleum). Don’t let anyone tell you that they are the same, because whole concentrates contain many synergistic parts compared to synthetics containing only one part.
Let’s explore this a bit further.
You wouldn’t assume artificial flavoring is the same as natural flavoring. And when it comes to vitamins, even so-called “natural” vitamins usually contain no more than 10% natural ingredients. The safest approach is to look at the label and see if they list actual foods as the source for the vitamins the bottle contains.
The same ingredients that synthetic vitamins are made from are very similar to synthetic food. These delicious junk foods that are so tempting are made from all sorts of chemicals.
One of the biggest reasons why people are getting fatter is that they are starving, nutrition wise. They think they are getting enough nutrients not only in their foods, but in their so-called vitamins.
