Brigitte Christiansen couldn’t clip her toenails due to excess weight. Understandably that was something she objected to. When she weighed in at 195 pounds (88 kg) on her 53rd birthday—with a long list of health issues—she was ready for something new.
Like many others, Christiansen had struggled to lose weight with fad diets, only to gain it all back again. “I had some family members that were losing weight by doing [a branded diet],” she says. “The cost was $350 a month which I couldn’t afford and I also didn’t want another fad diet where you lose weight until you stop buying the product.”
And weight wasn’t her only challenge. Three years ago, Christiansen was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Adding that to parasites, candida, adrenal fatigue, severe PMS and pre-diabetes, she wasn’t feeling good by any standard. “I felt 80 years old,” she said. “That’s when my journey began.”
On August 8, 2018, Christiansen decided to take her life back and help her husband in the process. She found Dr. Berg accidentally on YouTube.
Now she listens to him all the time. In fact, besides her husband, Dr. Berg is Christiansen’s biggest support system, and source of the greatest lesson she has learned: the importance of healing from the inside out. Since starting keto, she has lost 29 pounds (13 kg) and she’s on her way to losing more. Best of all, her previous health issues have vanished.
While she is ecstatic to be fitting into her clothes again and feeling healthy, Christiansen reveals that it was tough to be patient. Her patience was sustained by all of Dr. Berg’s success stories on his YouTube channel.
Because she was inspired by the journeys of those who found success with keto and Dr. Berg, Christiansen now tries to help others with their journey. “Stay the course,” she advises. “You didn’t get heavy or unhealthy overnight. Therefore, you won’t get healthy and skinny overnight.”
She also shares her personal success story: “I feel like a brand-new person, younger and healthier,” she says. “I can trim my own toenails now, too.”
