I had thyroid problems with oral iodine supplementation (even Kelp). Now I put one drop of 5% lugolsch on my skin (approx. 6.5mg iodine) but only 12% will be absorbt (0.78 mg). I do this twice a week and I feel so much better. Perhaps this works better for someone else too.
(Additionally I take 0.2mg natriumselenit per day)
