Ingredients

Rutabaga fries

  • 2 rutabagas large
  • avocado oil spray
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Fry sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F / 204 degrees C. Line baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Peel and cut 2 rutabagas into ¼ inch sticks using pairing knife. Place them in large bowl.

  • Lightly spray rutabaga sticks with avocado oil spray and season with 1 teaspoon sea salt and ¼ teaspoon black pepper. Mix until evenly coated.

  • Lay rutabaga spears out on lined baking tray and bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  • While rutabaga sticks are baking, mix ½ cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon yellow mustard, 1 teaspoon tomato paste, and ½ teaspoon smoked paprika in small bowl to make fry sauce.

  • Once rutabaga fries are done baking, remove from oven and let cool for several minutes.
  • Serve fries hot with fry sauce.

Notes

  • Use an air fryer for a faster cooking time and crispier fries.
  • For added flavor, combine the rutabaga spears with Parmesan cheese and garlic powder before baking.
  • Avoid using vegetable oil for the fry sauce as it imparts a strong flavor that can overpower the other ingredients.
