Preheat oven to 425 degrees F / 220 degrees C. Lightly grease baking sheet with nonstick cooking oil spray.
Arrange 1 pound asparagus spears on baking sheet. Set aside.

In small bowl mix together 3 tablespoons olive oil, 4 garlic cloves, ¾ teaspoon kosher salt and ¼ teaspoon fresh black pepperr. Drizzle oil mixture over asparagus and toss to evenly coat.

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until just beginning to get tender.
Remove from oven and top with 1¼ cup mozzarella cheese. Return to oven and broil (or grill) until cheese melts and becomes golden, about 4 to 5 minutes.
