Lindsey Echols's Story

Images Story

By: Lindsey Echols

Lindsey Echols is a wife and mother who lost over 80 pounds after switching to a keto diet and learning from Dr. Berg’s videos. Since the time when her weight loss journey began in April 2017, she has been able to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Currently she’s off all previous medications.

“It all started after having two kids back to back,” said Echols. “I also developed postpartum depression on top of a pre-existing thyroid condition. My husband and I would see photos of ourselves and we just weren’t happy with the way we looked. But more importantly, we weren’t happy with the way we felt.”

She recalls feeling bloated and thinking it was normal to have a stomachache after every meal. She lacked energy; she was taking medication for her thyroid and depression. She and her husband decided on a change of diet, not knowing how sweepingly it would change their lives.

“My husband introduced me to Dr. Berg’s videos after we first started keto,” Echols said. “We’d watch them all the time while cooking or hanging out.”

As she learned to heal herself through food, she found that the journey wasn’t so difficult. Once she realized that food doesn’t have to be an emotional habit and it really is just fuel for your body, things became simple.

Keeping herself accountable was another way Echols made things easier for herself. Her husband, mother, and even some of her coworkers were doing keto and intermittent fasting as Dr. Berg recommends. She even started a Facebook and Instagram account (@ketoandcontour) where she built an online community to keep herself on track.

“I documented pretty much everything online and when I felt like I hit a wall, it was great to look back and see how far I’d come,” said Echols. “I’d share even the small victories like having the confidence to wear a swimsuit in the pool with my kids or the fact that I can now play with them at the park. And it’s fun to go back to old recipes I might have forgotten about. Keeping track of the process really helps.”

To date she has lost 80 pounds and her husband has lost 65. She has more mental clarity and energy, and clearer skin, and she sleeps better. Echols and her husband have both stopped taking all medications. At first, she thought she wasn’t going to be able to enjoy her food anymore. Now the foods she craves are the foods that are better for her body.

“If I could do anything differently, I would’ve trusted it to work from the beginning,” Echols says. “I expected Dr. Berg’s advice to be like a fad diet but it’s not. He tells you everything you need to know without overcomplicating things. Trust that.”

Favorite Healthy Food: “We like to keep it simple with classic meats and veggies, and I’m always looking for keto coffee.”
