Yashraj Sillodkar's Story

Yashraj Sillodkar, a resident of India, began his success story with Dr. Berg after some health scares.

Sillodkar suffered from chronic pancreatitis from ages 14 through 21 and then diabetes-related issues starting at age 23. After enduring numerous endoscopy and stenting procedures, he saw his pancreatitis begin to heal.

But in October 2016, he found that his blood sugar was at 190 after fasting and 310 post-meal. “I was very shocked and hurt that after recovering from one disease, I was facing another life-long one,” he explained.

“I cut out sugar and refined flour completely,” he said. That was his first step. He took to the Internet searching for healthy diets and programs; that’s how he found Dr. Berg. “He instantly caught my attention with his short, informative, and relevant videos,” said Sillodkar. “I started following his advice for my diet and exercise routines.”

He found himself very aligned with Dr. Berg’s advice on intermittent fasting and the keto diet. But this journey didn’t come without challenges.

“The hardest part was giving up all the junk I was addicted to,” Sillodkar said. “Here in India, it's a habit in the family to have sweets after every meal. This was incorporated in my system since childhood. Plus, all the soft drinks, chips, burgers, midnight snacks… To give up all this in your early 20s was a nightmare! But slowly I gave things up one by one and I finally realized that I have only one body so I have to value it the most.”

When asked what he would do differently if he could re-live his weight-loss journey, he explained that when it comes to exercise, he used to only do cardio. Now, he feels strongly about the importance of weight training and has learned a lot from Dr. Berg. “I was losing weight but I still had the same amount of fat,” he said.

Everyone has a unique motivation to embark on a weight loss journey. For Sillodkar, it was his parents. “I didn’t want them to worry,” he said. “I love them so much and their smiles kept me going.”

He has lost 36 kg (79 lbs) and now weighs 72 kg (158 lbs) at 5’10”. “I’m young and I can see my body turning from a blob into a fit and healthy person’s body and I feel great stepping on the scale and looking in the mirror,” he says.

Although Sillodkar is in great shape now, it will always be a work in progress and he’ll continue to look to Dr. Berg for tips and suggestions. “Thank you for your videos, Dr. Berg, and thank you for reading my story!”

Favorite Exercise:

Pushups. “I do 70 to 100 pushups every other day.”
