When Vivek saw the image of himself in the mirror, he realized that it was not who he wanted to be. His weight-loss journey began in 2016 when he lost about 44 pounds (20 kg) in eight months — but he was still dissatisfied because he couldn’t get rid of his “belly fat.”
He finally found something that worked to give him the results he was looking for, when a friend told him about keto.
There have been pluses and minuses: it was hard for Vivek to give up his favorite foods but the best part is how confident he feels now. “I feel confident and healthy,” he said.
He was encouraged by his family, who have been supportive from the beginning. Seeing his progress prevented him from giving up. Vivek advises people who are new to keto to start slowly instead of “jumping too early into the deep.”
Since starting keto, Vivek has lost another 22 pounds (10 kg) and his “belly fat” is gone. The only thing he will do differently now is incorporate intermittent fasting into his lifestyle.
“I just want to say to whoever is doing something to get into shape — that when you are thinking about giving up, just think about why you started,” he said. “If you give up here, you won’t make yourself [into] the person you wanted to be.”
